It's coming!!! The Perth School of Ballet is excited to once again be hosting Summer Ballet Intensive for 2025.
Summer Ballet Intensive is a world class training week running from January 20 to 24, 2025 in Perth, Western Australia. With an incredible cast of coaches, students will be learning from the best. See below for full details on this special Intensive including classes running, how to register and a full list of coaches and their amazing bios.
Unlike at some Summer Intensive Programs we ensure that all levels have the opportunity to do class with ALL of the coaches. Each of our specialised coaches have something amazing to bring to our students and we want to make sure everyone has the chance to learn.

Classes begin daily at 9.00am - studios open from 8.30am.
Classes end each day at 12.15pm
Each day includes a short break. Please bring small snack and water bottle.
LEVEL 2 & 3
Classes begin daily at 9.00am - studios open from 8.30am.
Classes end each day at 4.00pm
Each day includes a lunch break. Please bring lunches and water bottle.
A showing will be held on Day 5 of the course for parents to come along and see what students have been working on throughout the week.
Healthy snacks available for purchase at reception.
Classes are not open for viewing.
REGISTRATIONS
EARLY BIRD
Early Bird registrations close 1 December 2024.
SINGLE DAY REGISTRATIONS
Registrations for single day entries will open 1 January 2025.
NB: Refunds will not be issued for non attendance. Students who can not attend due to medical concerns must present organisers with a Doctor's Certificate and will be granted a 50% refund in the form of a credit to future PSB events.
COACHES
CARINA ROBERTS
Carina begun her training at Gail Meade Performing Arts Centre in Wangara, Perth. In 2013 she was accepted into the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA). Carina graduated with an Advanced Diploma (Elite Performance) from WAAPA in 2014. When joining West Australian Ballet in 2015 as a Young Artist Carina performed Jayne Smeulders’ Tarantella in the Balanchine season that year as well as dancing the lead role Swanilda in Greg Horsman’s Coppélia. She also named as ‘Dancer to Watch’ in Dance Australia in 2015 and 2016 as well as ‘Most Outstanding Dancer’ in Dance Australia in 2017. In 2018 she was promoted to Demi-Soloist and has since danced many other roles such as Mina in Krzysztof Pastors Dracula (a role which she was nominated for a Helpmann award in 2019), The Sylph in La Sylphide, peasant pas de deux in Giselle and Alice in Septime Webre’s ALICE: In Wonderland.
ALEX KAY
Alex is a Perth born and bred contemporary dancer beginning her training at The Perth School of Ballet and continued her tertiary dance training at WAAPA 2018.
She then went on to complete an Honours year with LINK Dance Company. During her studies Alex performed in works by renowned choreographers, touring to France, Taiwan, China and Melbourne. As a Developing Artist for Co3 she performed in the 2020 Perth Festival, and since then performed in the 2021& 2022 Perth Festival.
Alex has worked with artists such as Raewyn Hill, Stephanie Lake, Daisy Sanders, Deborah May, Adelina Larson and Scott Elstermann.
Alex has a passion for dance education and is a teaching artist for Co3 and the West
Australian Ballet where she teaches in schools in both the Perth metro area and in regional WA towns. Alex is interested in how to cultivate flow state though mindfully moving and how this can directly affect dance performance.
JACOB CHOWN
Born in Perth, former West Australian State Champion in trampolining from the age of six, Jacob joined the West Australian Institute of Sport for Gymnastics until the age of nine. In seeking a career with his talent, he started ballet with his three siblings, training at the Graduate College of Dance led by Terri Charlesworth. Later following in his brothers’ footsteps he joined the Australian Ballet School, Graduating in 2005 with an Advanced Diploma in Dance.
In 2006, still following his brother, Jacob accepted a contract for the Royal New Zealand Ballet where he spent twelve years performing around the world as a soloist and principle dancer. Since leaving the company in 2017 as a senior artist, he has been tutoring the next generation of young artists at the New Zealand School of Dance and other various dance academies.
During 2019, Jacob and his older sister Katie,attended the Gaga Summer Intensive Workshopin Tel Aviv at Batsheva Dance Company studios, where they worked with Ohad Naharin. Following this workshop, Jacob returned to the stage with the West Australian Ballet as a Guest Artist for Alice In Wonderland, then had a contract renewal for 2020 and 2021. Jacob has enjoyed keeping up with his hobbies which are skateboarding, snowboarding, fishing and circus arts, while continuing to follow his passion in dance.
